DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY IN WILLIAM VINTAGE

Did you spot my birthday dress over on Instagram? If you follow me, it will have been hard to miss. Bright, multicoloured, multi-patterned and adorned with tassels and netting, it was fit for my special night celebrating at The Standard.

For my 40th, I was looking for something super special (I’m not married yet so this party is as big as it gets!). I made a trip to the William Vintage boutique, and after trying on a ruffled Lanvin dress, a ‘70s floaty green gown by Jean Varon and a two-piece ‘70s trousers and top number — designer unknown — I spotted the outfit of dreams which screamed celebratory fun, a 1990s Versace number which I had the pleasure of wearing for the big night. We are talking haute couture/catwalk fashion here and it’s definitely not something that many of us, including myself, have access to, but I think we can all appreciate brilliant design for what it is, and taking inspiration from it in our own way.

Also, places like this at the top end really help to remove the stigma of buying something that’s been pre-loved, so you end up seeing something that’s both really special AND also sustainable on people like Amal Clooney and Rihanna.
