BRAVE BIOME BOOST SMOOTHIE

 
 

I love a hot drink but sometimes I just want something lovely and sunny to nourish me from the inside out. We’ve called it Brave Biome Boost - a recipe I’ve created to enjoy with True Biome, a new supplement by Ancient + Brave. Created by an immunologist, it's different from other gut health supplements because rather than just popping live probiotics which are super fragile, it supports the gut by feeding, repairing and protecting the terrain so that your gut microbiome can thrive.

So while I can just mix this powder into water because it dissolves easily and has no taste, I’m serving it with a little something extra. Rather than a huge cold smoothie that can sit heavy on your digestion, I’m going small and light. This recipe is for two; we’ve got live probiotic coconut yoghurt full of healthy fats, a ripe banana which is a natural prebiotic for the gut. Warming spices to aid digestion - we’ve got anti-inflammatory turmeric which supports the gut lining, freshly ground black pepper to enhance absorption of the active compound in turmeric, ginger for a digestive kick, then there’s a delicious flavour hit with cardamom which is soothing for digestion. Some raw honey, Anti inflammatory and antimicrobial honey is also recognised as a prebiotic for the gut, a pinch of sea salt to support electrolyte balance and then don’t forget the all important True Biome - 1 scoop per person.  Instead of ice I’m going room temp or even warm water which can promote easier digestion , and to avoid a cold shock to the stomach. If you like, some freshly ground flax seeds which give it a granola taste but also provide some bite. Because we really want to chew our drinks and drink our food as they say in Ayurveda for good digestion and of course good gut health.

METHOD 

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender.

  2. Slow blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Sip slowly and 'chew'/eat with a spoon at room temperature.

INGREDIENTS

Serves 2

150ml live unsweetened coconut yoghurt

250ml room-temperature water

1 ripe medium banana

1/2 tsp ground turmeric

1/4 tsp of fresh, coarsely ground black pepper

½ tsp ground fresh cardamon

½ tsp ground ginger

2 tsp raw honey

Pinch of rock salt or pink himalayan salt

Optional: 1tbs freshly ground flax seed

Plus 2 Ritual Scoops of True Biome (1 scoop per person)
Optional: 1 tbs freshly ground flax seed (omega and provides some bite)
