At my big 40th birthday bash, I did what any birthday girl showing off would do and had a costume change! A lot of you had already seen my vintage Versace number that made an appearance on the second half of the night but many of you also spotted  my initial party dress, which was kept top secret... until now!

So for everyone wondering where this exquisite piece is from I can now reveal that it’s the Rainbow Chakra Gown from my collection with Needle & Thread no less! This top-to-toe gown follows the colours of the chakras; the waves of sequins flow from red, representing the root chakra, up through the rainbow to violet, representing the crown chakra. The sequins, made from self-generated waste plastic and laminated with an iridescent plastic coating material that has been diverted from landfill and brought into the factory, are sewn onto a base of recycled polyester tulle and recycled polyester crepe de chine lining to create this magic gown. Sourcing recycled sequins in India threw up quite a few hurdles but thanks to Needle & Thread creating demand for the product, the brand was able to pioneer the use of existing material to generate them.

This colourful, shimmering dress was hands down the perfect party dress to celebrate my birthday, and the soon-to-launch collection which you can now shop here! To find out more about the story behind this collection read here.
