When it comes to shopping sustainable fashion it’s easy to dismiss high street brands straight off the bat. Thankfully that needn’t be the case. One retailer offering more eco-friendly choices is H&M with their Conscious Collection, which has been around since 2011. The collection has taken on many forms since its launch but essentially the pieces are made from environmentally adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel and recycled polyester.

Everyday denims and basics form the basis of the collection each season which I think is very smart, as not only are the items themselves made from sustainable materials, but being items that mix easily into your wardrobe your bound to get way more than your #30wears from them!

On the flipside of blue jeans and white tee’s is the annual Conscious Exclusive collection, which applies the same concept and processes to evening wear. The 2017 Conscious Exclusive collection included an evening gown made entirely from recycled shoreline waste (a polyester made using bottles called Bionic) as well as earrings made of recycled glass and plastic. This year the limited edition collection also included fragrances – a set of three unisex organic oils that can be worn individually or mixed to suit your mood.

Another powerful initiative from H&M are the in store recycle boxes, where you can drop off old clothes and textiles and be given a £5 voucher (for each bag recycled) in return. Since 2013, 32,000 tonnes of garments (the equivalent of 100 million t-shirts) have been re-worn, reused and recycled through the service.

Below are my current Conscious collection picks including my new favourite shirt, which is from the exclusive collection, but you can browse the full range online here or even better – shop in store and recycle your previously-loved-but-no-longer-worn things at the same time!
