6 CREAMY BLUSHERS THAT WILL GIVE YOU THAT WINTER GLOW

Blush is my buddy!

As someone who’s yellow-toned and super pale come winter, blush is my instant joie de vivre! Creamy pots of pink to purple, orange to tan, naturally formulated and wonderfully pigmented, the heat of my fingers turns them into a wash of colour for my cheeks, which also works fantastically to add a colour pop to my lips and lids when called for. I make sure to choose naturally formulated makeup products, which means they’re made using minimally processed ingredients from nature, and free of potentially harmful synthetic chemicals.

Dab, dab, dab, I mix and match and blend and press and in an instant everything looks better! Well for those looking at me anyway, haha! The old-fashioned powder blushes have taken a back seat for these oil and water based formulas which suit my slightly drier skin and work a wonder for top-ups — avoiding that cakey product build-up and adding sheen without sparkle. And now, as we hit the dead of winter, even WFH with an occasional appearance on the ‘gram and daily calls on Zoom, I rely very much on these colour pots to bring a bit of life to my complexion, so without further ado — here are my go-tos including favourite colours with something for every day of the week (except maybe Sunday!).

RMS BEAUTY LIP2CHEEK IN MODEST

This product gives me such a healthy glow, and is made using all-natural organic ingredients including nourishing coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter. It feels hydrating and soft — a total pleasure — though the amount of oils in this one might pose a staying-power problem if your skin is more oily. This highly pigmented pot was one of the first that I tried and a bit of a revelation.

BURT’S BEES ALL AGLOW  LIP & CHEEK STICK IN SUEZ SANDS

As always when it comes to affordable and ubiquitous natural cosmetics, Burt’s Bees delivers. This lip and cheek stick is super handy, hydrating and looks great on my skin. It’s the most sheer and sheeny of the formulations so you can really take the stick and apply it quite liberally — a good one for newcomers to cream colours.

HIRO MULTISTICK IN THE AFTERHOUR

This clever cream-to-powder formula is super buildable and works for lips, cheeks, eyes and body, whether you want a little peek of colour or a bright pop. I like The Afterhour — with hints of purple and brown, it’s quite sophisticated. This product is 100% natural and 90% organic, as well as vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free.

TATA HARPER VOLUMIZING LIP AND CHEEK TINT IN VERY CHARMING

This is a pinky mauve that makes a really lovely daytime colour or goes well with a strong lip or eye in the evening for a more subtle base look. The texture evens out your skin and brings it hydration and nutrients for a wonderful feel.

ERE PEREZ CARROT COLOUR POT IN CREAMY CARAMEL

This is a cute little cream blush in a pot, available in 5 colours. It’s packed with antioxidant carrots (hence the name) and other goodness. I’m wearing the creamy caramel in the photo. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, non-GMO and ethically produced.

JILLIAN DEMPSEY CHEEK TINT IN ROSY

A deep rose pink tint that comes in a pink compact for rosy pink cheeks all year around — what’s not to love? Jillian Dempsey is a go-to brand for me, thanks to their natural formulas full of lovely organic ingredients. This is another very pigmented colour pot but not as “moist” as the others so hydrated cheeks are a must before application. And its thin little packaging, with mirror unlike the others, makes it super practical on the go.
