COOKING WITH GARY BARLOW - CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL WITH GRAM DUMPLINGS

Next up in my video series with Gary Barlow: chicken soup. Watch us as we make a twist on the original with Chicken Soup for the Soul from my new book East by West.

As far back as the 12th century, physicians were recommending chicken soup to combat a cold, because it was so soothing and anti-inflammatory. For this reason, chicken soup is made all over the world today, just as it has been for centuries, as part of family gatherings or the weekly repertoire. There is also so much nostalgia attached to it — it reminds people of the food their mamas used to make them. I love that although a good chicken soup takes time (but don’t worry you’re not standing over that stove!), it’s easy to make and uses readily available ingredients. While chatting about this, that and everything (check out the other videos), Gary and I had a chicken soup on the go - perfect for this time of year and I added a twist with my naturally-gluten free, high-protein, chickpea flour dumplings — which bob around in that beautiful clear broth to make the soup go further. Who doesn’t love a dumpling, eh Gary?
